Germany effort 2018-2020

Germany is one of Denmark’s most important partners, not only in the EU but also in Europe as a whole – a cultural kindred spirit, a major importer of Danish goods and a source of inspiration.

One of the events the Agency for Culture and Palaces collaborated with was the Make City Architectural festival in Berlin, which took place during the summer 2018. Source: Colourbox.

Geographically, Germany is the only country with who Denmark shares a land border. This border region has served as a prime example of how to develop positive and fruitful relations between neighbouring states. Naturally, the two countries also share cultural interests and values that, in many ways, reflect each other.

The linguistic and cultural connections between the two nations have always been strong. Over the centuries countless Danish artists have travelled to Germany, returning with powerful and lasting impressions.

Visits to Denmark by German artists have also helped to strengthen and develop Danish culture, encouraging internationalisation and promoting the emergence of both the national and international cultural scenes.
