The Danish Agency for Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark are pleased to mark the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House with the exhibition "Danish Design at the House".

Designed by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the Sydney Opera House is one of the great architectural achievements of the 20th century and a universal landmark. In its synthesis of form, technology and craft it has come to represent a high point in Danish design culture.

The Danish design companies are known for their world class design solutions with a pragmatic and functional approach. The philosophy has always been that well designed products should be available to everyone at any given situation.

Thus this exhibition draws on a vision of collaboration and synergy between the arts and business, between the creative and the commercial aspects of cultural items. Their significance is defined by a double contract of creating value for both the individual and for society. The unique cooperation between Danish design companies, artists, curators, architects in Danish Design at the House has created an unique exhibition that not only reflects history but also points to the future.

The exhibition will celebrate and showcase the values and logic that underpin Danish design to be enjoyed in Australian homes, business and public areas.

The Danish brands represent both classic and contemporary design. We are honored to present these strong innovative, sustainable and coherent brands that not only demonstrate the strong tradition in Danish design, but also point to the next generation of Danish design.

We have no doubt that this exhibition will manifest the Danish design legacy with Australians now and in the future.

We want to express our sincere thanks for generous support towards
