Desirable objects that feature fine materials are more likely to be used in everyday life if they are simple and easy to use. The focus of Danish designers on pragmatics is yet another reason why Danish design and fashion has becomes so pervasive and why we use our Danish products every day.

The essence of Utzon's work to me is the way he transforms the most basic building blocks and materials into monumental and ornamental works of art; through a deep understanding of the possibilities of his material, and an almost dogmatic pragmatism, he manages to create truly complex structures, guided by the hidden logic of his material. In the roof of the Sydney Opera House this is shown at its most extreme - the basic element become a dome for the global culture.

For the installation PRAGMATISM the materials given - plywood - and the frame is given with its angles and dimensions. Using the strength and the flexibility of plywood, I slice the panel into three different lengths. Juxtaposing the panels, they adjust to the angles of the existing window frame, creating a soft curve and a new depth to the surface - a pragmatic interlacing. The inner universe of the pod creates a new frame for the design objects exhibited. As the walls of the pod are the same, the objects are placed on all surfaces as a kaleidoscope arrangement giving each object space to tell its own story.
